GynuHerb® Gynura procumbens Supplement

Each capsule contains Organic Gynura procumbens Air Dried Leaf Powder 300mg.

Active Constituents

Main active constituents include astragalin, chlorogenic acid and kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside. Also contains phytosterols (β-sitosterol, stigmasterol), sterol glycosides, adenosine, quercetin-O-caffeoylquinic acid and other bioactive compounds.

Pharmacological Actions

1. Anti-diabetic Action

Gynura procumbens extract has anti-hyperglycemic and anti-hyperlipidemic activities. Shows biguanide-like activity similar to metformin by improving glucose tolerance (OGTT) in diabetic models. Significantly reverses adverse effects of elevated intracellular glucose accumulation.

2. Anti-hypertensive Action

Gynura procumbens extract (GPE) significantly lowers serum lactate dehydrogenase and creatine phosphokinase, increases nitric oxide (a vasodilator), and decreases systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Glycoconjugated or peptidal substances in GPE inhibit ACE, useful for prevention and treatment of hypertension.

Dosage

Adult — one to two capsules two to three times daily, half an hour before meal

Caution

Adjust dosage of other hypoglycemic agents when used together. If pregnant or breastfeeding, seek physician supervision before use.
