Hepa-B® Hepatitis B Support Supplement
Each capsule contains a synergistic blend of 5 herbal extracts:
- Phyllanthus niruri extract 48mg
- Ganoderma lucidum extract 30mg
- Glycyrrhiza glabra extract (Licorice) 24mg
- Eclipta alba extract 12mg
- Picrorhiza kurroa extract 6mg
Pharmacological Actions
1. Phyllanthus niruri
Phyllanthin blocks DNA polymerase — the enzyme needed for Hepatitis B virus replication.
2. Ganoderma lucidum
Polysaccharides and triterpenes from Ganoderma lucidum have immune-modifying activity and anti-viral effects, indicating a role in treatment of chronic hepatitis B.
3. Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice Root)
Glycyrrhizin induces the body’s natural antiviral compound (interferon) and suppresses the secretion of Hepatitis B virus surface antigen in patients with Hepatitis B.
4. Eclipta alba
Shows protective effect on experimental liver damage. Wedelolactone is a potent 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor via oxygen radical scavenging. Widely used for viral hepatitis B, liver enlargement, liver cirrhosis and infective hepatitis.
5. Picrorhiza kurroa
Picroliv and its major compound catalpol show promising anti-Hepatitis B surface antigen activity. Picroliv also inhibits purified Hepatitis B virus surface antigens.
Indication
Chronic hepatitis
Dosage
12 years and above — one to two capsules two times daily before meal for a minimum of six months
Caution
Decrease the dose in renal insufficiency.
Side Effects
Hypersensitivity (allergy) has been known to occur — discontinue use if this occurs.
