Uritec Cranberry Extract Urinary Tract Supplement

Each capsule contains Cranberry Fruit Extract (containing Proanthocyanidin) 100mg.

Pharmacological Actions

Cranberry proanthocyanidins (PACs) have a unique A-type intermolecular double linkage that imparts strong bacterial anti-adhesion properties — different from PACs found in other flavonoid-rich foods.

E. coli bacteria cause 80–90% of urinary tract infections (UTIs), the most common infection among women with a high recurrence rate. Cranberry PACs affect E. coli in three ways:

1. Change the shape of E. coli from rods to spheres
2. Alter the cell membranes
3. Compress tendrils on the outside of cells, inhibiting E. coli’s ability to attach to the bladder wall lining

Additionally, conversion of benzoic acid to hippuric acid changes urine pH, acting as a urinary bacteriostatic agent and reducing urinary odor — useful for those who are incontinent.

Recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI)

Dosage

12 years and above — one to two capsules two times daily after meal
