Each tablet contains:

• Milk Thistle Seed Extract 200mg (Standardized to 80% Silymarin)
• Soy Lecithin 100mg

Pharmacological Actions

1. Hepatoprotective Effects

Silymarin protects liver destruction and enhances liver function by inhibiting free radicals and leukotrienes, and stimulating liver protein synthesis. Silymarin is many times more potent in antioxidant activity than Vitamin E. Unlike most flavonoid antioxidants, silymarin is distributed specifically to the liver rather than remaining in plasma.

2. Enhance Hepatic Glutathione Activity

Silymarin substitutes for depleted glutathione in hepatocytes and increases basal GSH levels by 35% over control even in normal liver — one of the most important antioxidant molecules for elimination of cytotoxicity.

3. Prevent Lipid Peroxidation in Hepatocytes

Silymarin prevents free radical damage of lipids in cell membranes (lipid peroxidation), maintaining membrane stability. This is the primary mode of hepatoprotection, keeping amatoxins out of hepatocytes in mushroom poisoning and other liver poisoning.

4. Stimulation of Hepatic Protein Synthesis & Liver Cell Regeneration

Silymarin promotes liver cell regeneration by involving the cell’s DNA. Polymerase A promotes nucleus activity and new protein synthesis via the endoplasmic reticulum.

5. Anti-inflammatory Effects

Silymarin is a potent inhibitor of lipoxygenase enzyme and inhibits prostaglandin synthesis during inflammation. Suppresses pathological decomposition of membrane lipids and neutralizes leukotrienes and prostaglandins involved in liver damage by toxins.

Dosage

12 years and above — one tablet two times daily before meal. Dose can be doubled in severe liver intoxication or cirrhosis as silymarin is non-toxic.

• Skin reactions: pruritus, rash, urticaria and eczema in sensitive individuals
