Salixin Willow Bark Pain & Fever Relief Supplement
Each tablet contains:
Willow Bark (Salix alba and Salix tetrasperma) Extract 300mg
Pharmacological Action
Willow bark contains phenolic glycosides, mainly salicortin and salicin. These compounds are hydrolysed and converted to salicylic acid, which reduces prostaglandin levels in inflamed tissues through inhibition of COX-2 pathways. Willow bark is traditionally used for anti-inflammatory and analgesic support.
Unlike synthetic aspirin, salicin does not contain an acetyl group and is not associated with the same platelet-aggregation effect. Salicin may also be gentler on the stomach than aspirin.
